Half and Half Painting

Materials:
- Jazz paint in assorted colors (or just black and white)
- various paint brushes
- heavy paper
- pencil
- scissors
- glue
- old magazine to cut up
- paint trays
- water
- newspaper

Procedure:
- cover work area with newspaper
- select a picture out of a magazine and crop it as you wish
- glue it to the paper
- draw the rest of the picture around the imageäor cut part of
the image out and fill in the missing partäor connect to images
together with your own drawing
- paint in the sketched areas either in shades of gray or by mixing
colors to match the magazine photograph

Handy hints:
Either color or black and white pictures may be selected and the fill
in either made to match, or reversed to encourage seeing the subtlety
of value changes or tinting/shading of colors.
