Personalized Happy Birthday Party Hat

Fun activity to occupy guests at a birthday party.

Level: Novice, Intermediate

Van Aken Product(s):
Jazz liquid tempera, Jr. Jazz 'truly washable', Jazz School, or Jazz Gloss

 

Materials:

• Jazz paint in assorted colors
• thick paper cut in strips long enough to fit around child's head
• assorted paint brushes
• pencil or chalk
• paint trays
• water
• stapler
• newspaper

Procedure:

• cover work area with newspaper
• paint birthday party theme onto long strip of paper and let dry
• cut out desired shape (i.e., crown) across one edge of paper
• put paper around child's head to determine size
• staple ends together (with adult supervision or help)

Handy hints:
Paint applied too thickly may crack and fall off of the paper after drying. Jr. jazz 'truly washable' may be best as it washes out of clothing.
