WHAT IS THE SHELF LIFE OF JAZZ TEMPERA PAINT?
The minimum shelf life is 3 years. Many of our tempera products have proven to be stable many years beyond the minimum shelf life.
CAN JAZZ TEMPERA PAINT BE SEALED TO WATERPROOF AND PROTECT IT?
All of our tempera products, including Gloss and EZ Squeezie markers, can be sealed with a clear acrylic spray. We do not recommend brushing water-based varnish over tempera for the following two reasons:
1. The presence of water in the varnish will soften the tempera paint.
2. Brush contact will assist in removing the paint from the surface.
CAN JAZZ TEMPERA PAINTS BE THINNED DOWN AND WITH WHAT?
All Jazz products are packaged at a ready-to-use consistency, however if a thinner paint is desired, a minimal amount of water may be mixed with the paint in a separate container.
WHEN WORKING WITH PLASTALINA MODELING CLAY, HOW CAN A SMOOTH NON-CRACKING SURFACE BE ACHIEVED WHILE SCULPTING DETAIL WORK?
A small amount of mineral oil may be used to smooth out cracks on the surface only. If the oil is incorporated into the clay or is overused into the clay or is overused it will cause the clay to soften.
HOW MANY SQUARE FEET WILL ONE PINT OF TEMPERA PAINT COVER?
One pint will cover approximately 35 square feet.
IS THERE SULFUR IN VAN AKEN¼S PLASTALINA?
Sulfur is not an ingredient in the formulation. It may be present in trace elements that can be measured in parts per million. However, the amount is so small that it does not affect the mold making process. These trace elements of sulfur may be found in the various raw materials used in making non-hardening modeling clay.
WILL PLASTALINA HARDEN IN THE OVEN?
Plastalina is a non-hardening modeling clay. When exposed to extreme heat it melts.
WHAT IS THE MELTING TEMPERATURE OF PLASTALINA?
Plastalina will melt at 125É Fahrenheit.
WILL JAZZ TEMPERA PAINT WASH OUT OF CLOTHING?
If the tempera paint used was „Jr. Jazz Truly Washable Paint-4-Kids¾ the chances of it washing out are excellent. In most cases, nearly 100% wash out has been achieved. If our standard Jazz Liquid Tempera was used, unfortunately staining may occur. The use of a soil removing aid may help in reducing the stain.
HOW DO I PREPARED A WINDOW FOR PAINTING?
For best results, we recommend using Jazz Window Prep. This product was specially formulated to create compatibility and to strengthen the bond between the glass and the tempera paint. It also helps to eliminate undesirable flaking.
